Girl Gamers are as Competitive as Male Gamers
WorldWinner which is online game competition provider and a Fun Technologies subsidiary has recently revealed results of a random survey they conducted which indicated that men and women are equally compared when it comes to their competitiveness in a competition.
As per WorldWinner, the 2007 WorldWinner Gender, Competition Survey in which they analyzed the attitudes and aptitude of men and women toward informal gaming contests and revealed that both men and women described themselves as competitive or highly competitive – 73 percent – “.
Survey also revealed both men and women are driven by same force or factor which is desire to win over opponent sex and it was the number one response from both genders, this number was slightly higher among males (61 percent of all participants) versus females (50 percent of all participants).
Amazingly women tends to seek out competition more often than men; A lot of of women or 39 percent of them, replied that they look for a competition almost daily, on other hand only 31 percent of men do. Majority of men which is 45 percent are happy going head 2 head just a few times per week.
Other interesting results revealed that the majority of both gender groups equally fight for validation or to prove themselves as a better gamer and predominantly decided that competition is more “interesting” and “thrilling” than “intimidating” and tends not to quit when ahead and feel just as competitive playing against the same gender as they do versus a member of the opposite gender.
Question is which gender is more competitive or better? As per WorldWinner’’s analysis, it’’s a tie. This survey respondents (most of them) do agree that men and women are equally assertive and competitive in any casual competition.
49 percent of men and 53 percent of women do believe that both genders men and women are equally competitive, on the other hand 45 percent of men and 35 percent of women view their male competitors as more competitive. Only 6 percent of men and 12 percent of women perceive females to be the more competitive opponents.
Lastly, this survey found that when money is no object, both men 77 percent and women 86 percent agrees that they would rather like to play a game and lose than not play the game at all.
Fun Technologies CEO Lorne Abony also commented as, “Men are often stereotypically viewed as more competitive, but our survey revealed what we experience on WorldWinner every day: that both sexes enjoy friendly, casual competition against anyone who’s willing to take them on.”

Guys and dolls will always compete at the start, and on casual platonic levels, it is when they become involved thatthe fun and games really begins. Advertises and copywriter already know that this exists which is why they use it so often in advertising

This was an interesting article, but I must plead with you to brush up on your writing skills. The word ”majority” doesn”t apply to 45%. Use articles in your writing. Most of all, learn to properly incorporate numbers and figures into your writing. Also, it would be nice, and responsible, for you to provide a link to the original press release and/or survey data.

I don”t understand why everyone makes a big deal about women playing video games, nor when a woman is good a video games, or even when a woman wins a tournament against a man. Video games are a level playing field. There are not advantages or dis-advantages between men and women when it comes to electronic gaming.
I do get upset when I go to a lan party and there is a girls only tournament happening, when there is NO men only tournament, nor any barriors for women to compete in the other tournaments. AND YES I have seen more than a few female gamers compete along side the guys and even win first place atleast once.
So I have to wonder, why the hell make a big deal about girl gamers? All your gonna end up having is a bunch of the more imature male gamers gawk at them, from a distance.

Yer but like Men generly compeat in higher stakes maily time wize.
For instance it would be very normal to see a girl rock up at a friends place that are playing guitar hero or halo3 or some thing and sit down and start yelling there head off going I AM THE PWNAGE BITCHES… however.. i would be dammed to see the average girl sit down for 3weeks bashing Guitar hero or halo3. Just from my own experence i see Male gamers and competition to have more deepth due to a willingness to invest more time.
I for instance am far less compedative at WoW pvp than many females i know… however nun of them are 70 or have invested highly in a character.
If wanting to win ranks being compedative or not
how much you want to win and what u will do to win.. should be ranked also

Has anybody even heard of WorldWinner? They appear to be a bunch of nobodies trying to get free publicity by writing a stereotypical “girls are gamers too” article that blathers about how girls are exactly the same as guys. They do this because they know all the garbage gaming “journalism” sites do backflips anytime they can put up a link or article like this. I need to stop clicking on this garbage.
For their next article I advice flashing “Jack Thompson is mean to us” text all over the page. That will win some links.
